502 Vineyards at ProWein 2025: Turkish Wine Finds Its Voice on the Global Stage
502 Vineyards Team
From the hills of Amasya to the world — our boutique winery joins the new wave of Turkish wine at one of the industry’s most important international fairs.
What is ProWein and Why It Matters for Turkish Wine
ProWein, held annually in Düsseldorf, Germany, is the world's leading international trade fair for wine and spirits. With over 70 countries represented and thousands of professionals in attendance, it's where the global wine industry connects, discovers, and defines the future of wine.
For a Turkish winery, being at ProWein is not just about visibility — it’s about showing the world the quality, potential, and diversity of Turkish wines. We at 502 Vineyards were proud to be part of it.
Introducing 502 Vineyards: A Boutique Turkish Winery from Amasya
Based in the fertile, mineral-rich lands of Amasya in northern Turkiye, 502 Vineyards is a small, independent winery producing just 15,000 liters annually. We believe in natural winemaking, working with both native Turkish grapes and select international varieties, always with a focus on terroir and purity.
Our philosophy is built around:
Minimal intervention
Wild fermentation
Low to no added sulfites
Unfiltered, honest expressions of place
Mert Atay - Co-Founder 502 Wines
Our Story
502 Vineyards was founded by Mert Atay and Rifaa Wais, inspired by their time living together in Barcelona on Calle Rosello 502 — the name behind our label. What started as a shared dream has grown into a Turkish boutique winery rooted in Amasya, producing wines that reflect the land, the climate, and the soul of the region.
Wines We Poured at ProWein 2025
We had the chance to share several of our wines with international professionals, including:
Mercan (White) – wild-fermented, no sulfites, bright acidity with texture and layers
Rosé – crisp, dry, and food-friendly
Merzifon Karası – a native Turkish red grape, expressive and structured
Narince – a classic Turkish white, known for its floral and mineral-driven character
What Visitors Said
The feedback we received was incredibly encouraging. As co-founder Mert Atay shared:
“There was remarkable interest in our rosé and Merzifon Karası.
But the surprise star was Mercan — our wild white.
Many visitors told us: ‘We’ve never tasted a white wine like this before.’
That meant a lot, because it's exactly what we aim for — something unique, honest, and memorable.”
A New Chapter for Turkish Wine
Our time at ProWein confirmed what we’ve always believed: Turkish wine has something special to offer. With ancient soils, native grape varieties, and a growing community of passionate producers, Turkey is becoming a destination for natural and terroir-driven wines.
As a boutique winery from Amasya, we’re proud to be part of this movement — redefining how Turkish wine is perceived around the world.
